Scratch and rust repair covers deep scratches that have cut through the paint and surface rust that's starting to bubble or spread. The repair means sanding the scratch out or grinding the rust back to clean metal, treating and priming the area, and refinishing it so the repair blends and the rust is sealed off from moisture.
Rust never stops on its own — it spreads under the paint until a small bubble becomes a hole. In a coastal, humid climate like South Florida it moves fast. Catching scratches and rust early, while it's still surface-level, is far cheaper than waiting until a whole panel has to be cut out and replaced.
Come in as soon as you see paint bubbling, brown staining around chips or seams, or scratches deep enough to catch a fingernail and show bare metal. The earlier rust is dealt with, the less of the panel has to be repaired.
